ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA - On Sunday, August 15, 2025, shortly before 5:30 pm, units from the Albemarle County Police Department and Albemarle County Fire Rescue were dispatched to the 900 block of Monacan Trail Road for reports of a pedestrian in the shoulder of the roadway.
Upon arrival, first responders located an adult male suffering from life-threatening injuries believed to be sustained from being struck by a vehicle. The victim was transported to UVA Health and is currently in critical condition.
Officers believe the victim was walking southbound along Monacan Trail Road, approximately half a mile from the interstate, before being struck. The driver then fled the scene. Evidence at the scene suggests that the fleeing vehicle may have damage to the front end. No other description of the suspect vehicle is currently available.
ACPD’s Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate this incident. Anyone with information or who may have captured dash cam footage is asked to contact Officer Quillon at 434-296-5807.
