Commissioner Profile:  Anthony K. Wutoh
Pharmacy has provided an opportunity for a very fulfilling career for me. After graduating from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, I worked as a Hospital Pharmacist at University of Maryland Medical Center, and also concurrently enrolled in the Pharmacy Administration graduate program. As a pharmacist, I enjoyed the opportunity to interact with patients and other health care professionals, while also learning how to conduct health services research. After finishing my Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration (Pharmacoepidemiology), I was able to combine my interests in pharmacy with research interests in HIV/AIDS, access to new therapies, and complementary and alternative medicine.
Transitioning to a faculty position at Howard University allowed me to pursue academic pharmacy, while conducting research in areas that were impactful to me. I have enjoyed teaching students, conducting international research, and developing skills to serve as an administrator. As a member of ACPE's International Commission, I am honored to work with a number of global pharmacy leaders whose insights into pharmacy education have been very meaningful for me. I am humbled to be able to collaborate with such brilliant thinkers who are passionate about pharmacy, and improving pharmacy education globally.
