Jarrod Shapiro, DPM, FACPM
Dr. Shapiro is an ACPM board member, clinical podiatrist, teacher, residency program director of the Chino Valley Medical Center program, and writer who practices in the Pomona, California area as an associate professor at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Podiatric Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Podiatric Medicine and American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also a diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.

He graduated with a BA in English and BS in microbiology from Northern Arizona University in 1998, then went on to podiatric undergraduate training at the California College of Podiatric Medicine in San Francisco. He completed a three-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan. While in practice for the past 16 years, he has been an online editor of the Practice Perfect blog where he advocates for student and resident education and an improved understanding of lower extremity biomechanics.

Dr. Shapiro is an advocate for proper treatment of podiatrists commensurate with their education, training, and experience and is excited to see the future potential for a plenary license that would give podiatrists a seat at the political table with our allopathic and osteopathic colleagues. He would also like to see continued improvement in podiatric education with a national movement toward a more equivalent education between podiatric students and those in the MD and DO community.
ACPM Looking Forward: Thoughts from Dr. Shapiro...
As the primary advocate for the nonsurgical side of podiatry, the American College of Podiatric Medicine is in a strong position to join our other political organizations such as the APMA and ACFAS, as well as our board colleagues to continue to push for fair treatment of all podiatrists as well as improving education at all levels.

I recommend being part of ACPM because it is the one organization that is dedicated to a more well-rounded view of podiatry as both a surgical and nonsurgical specialty.
