Dr. Lee C. Rogers is president-elect of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM). His hometown is Gallatin, a small town in northwest Missouri. He attended Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery and completed a podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Centers in New York, NY. He completed a fellowship in limb salvage and research under Prof. David Armstrong at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. He is a clinical assistant professor at the Western University of Health Sciences College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Rogers was selected as Fellow Faculty in Podiatric Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He is board certified by the ABPM and holds a CAQ in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care.
Dr. Rogers has published over 150 manuscripts and book chapters and he's given more than 500 speeches in all 50 states and over 30 countries. He founded the Amputation Prevention Centers of America and served as the medical director for RestorixHealth from 2014-2020.
He is an Associate Editor for the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. He has been named as one of America's Most Influential Podiatrists by Podiatry Management magazine.
As a director at ABPM, Dr. Rogers led the efforts to create the Certificates of Added Qualification in Amputation Prevention and Wound Care and Podiatric Sports Medicine. He co-authored the ABPM's Guide on Hospital and Surgical Privileges for Doctors of Podiatric Medicine.

Podiatry is both a specialty of medicine and a profession. Podiatry's important role in preventing diabetes-related amputations is without question. Several new countries are adopting podiatry as the answer to the growing need for diabetic foot care and preventing amputations, including Romania and Pakistan (in progress). In the Middle East, where countries have some of the highest prevalence of diabetes in the world, podiatrists are working diligently to prevent amputations with culturally-sensitive methods.
ACPM's role is to be podiatry's premiere source of education, domestic and globally. ACPM has already partnered with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow to update the Charcot foot consensus. ACPM's eLearning POD is actively helping Diplomates complete their Maintenance of Certification requirements. And finally, I believe ACPM's new textbook will become the authoritative reference in podiatric medicine.

Dr. Rogers's important works include the APMA/ADA task force consensus on the Charcot foot (1) and authoring a Charcot foot classification (2) that was later validated as a tool to predict amputation (3).
As part of the APMA/SVS alliance, he described podiatry-vascular teams (4) and later as a co-author of the Global Vascular Guidelines he described how to create a center of excellence for amputation prevention (5).
During the pandemic, Rogers wrote about podiatry's pivotal role (6) including a new triage system for the diabetic foot which can help determine the site and urgency of care. He authored the Wound Center Without Walls concept (7) in response to COVID-19. He described the wave of diabetes-related amputations during the COVID-19 as a "pandemic within a pandemic" (8).
