News and Updates

ACPMP participated in the 2nd Rare Cancer Dependency Map Initiative meeting at the  Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard  in Cambridge, MA early in December. We really enjoyed connecting with fellow rare cancer organizations and touring the Broad lab where the Broad team is growing cell lines from rare cancers.

Congrats to the Broad Institute team for publishing new exciting research ! Tissue donated through  pattern.org  was used to grow cell lines for this project and ACPMP is proud to partner with the Broad Cancer Cell Line project to grow cell lines from appendiceal tumors Once grown, these cell lines can be used by any researcher in the world and may be used for this project.

Please consider donating your excess tissue to this project by registering at  pattern.org  before your next surgery or fluid drain!

Inspire  is a free and secure online support community in which patients connect with one another for support and information.

ACPMP has been a partner for the past 10 years and has cultivated a wonderful community for appendix cancer/PMP patients in the 'ACPMP Support Community' with over 1,900 members!

We are excited to share with you their new app, available for download today!  Inspire.com/app.
Upcoming Events
Rare Disease Day 2020!

What? February 29th is Rare Disease Day! Rare Disease Day takes place on the last day of February each year and is a day aimed to raise critical awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients' lives.

Why?
Building awareness of rare diseases is so important because 1 in 20 people will live with a rare disease at some point in their life. Despite this, there is no cure for the majority of rare diseases and many go undiagnosed.

This Rare Disease Day we hope that you'll raise awareness not only for the more than 7,000 rare diseases, but also for Appendix Cancer and PMP . Here are some ideas:
ACPMP Supports Advanced Cancer Therapies Conference

ACPMP is providing travel awards to 10 physicians and researchers based on outstanding abstracts on appendix cancer and PMP. The awardees will then present this research at Advanced Cancer Therapies event in February 2020.

Advanced Cancer Therapies is a comprehensive forum to promote research, development and application of advanced cancer therapies, including for the treatment of appendiceal cancer and pseudomyxoma peritonei. This event promotes education and the exchange of information among medical professionals regarding advanced cancer therapies for these diseases.
Double the Donation: Double your Impact!

Your donation makes it possible for us to fund research to find a cure for Appendix Cancer/PMP and fund educational programs to educate physicians and patients about these diseases.

Often your company, spouse's employer or a board you serve on may match your donation. Check with your employer on their matching donations policy, some may go back a year while others have a 12/31 cutoff!
