SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING PROJECT MONTHLY NEWS
ACKOWLEDGMENTS

We would like to acknowledge the commitment of the many New Hampshire afterschool programs to the enhancing of their SEL practice in their programs! The following directors are participating in the Social and Emotional Learning in Afterschool Series with a team of ACROSS NH consultants.

CLIPS, SNIPS, AND IN-A-SNAP
CLIPS
In this powerful short film from Mindful Schools, watch and hear from elementary school students learning to use mindfulness and breathing to navigate complex feelings.
SNIPS
IN-A-SNAP
These activities from ACROSS NH trainer and Pediatric Occupational Therapist, Kimberly O'Donnell, help children explore and understand ways to control their breathing.
NEW GUIDES FROM ACROSS NH
This guide seeks to support afterschool programs with the development of policies that seek to include all children and youth. Research shows many positive outcomes from participation in afterschool programs that intentionally address growth in personal and social skills. Thus, suspension and expulsion either limit or eliminate access to programming that is shown to be beneficial for children/youth.
Social and Emotional Learning takes place in all contexts that children and youth participate: their homes, schools, out-of-school time environments, and communities. The field of afterschool’s commitment to Social and Emotional Learning can make a profound difference in the lives of the young people served, and in the adults who guide them.
