ACS News
One week from today will be Christmas Day! However, we have been anticipating the day for a long time. I know I am exaggerating here, but sometimes it feels like stores take down the 'back to school' displays, put Halloween stuff out for a few minutes, and then transition to Christmas displays. Songs about Christmas seem to start earlier every year as well. After Christmas day passes, many items go on clearance and the world seems to quickly move on, within the matter of a few days. The celebrations end and we return to business as usual.

As Christians, I hope that we can celebrate Christmas all year round. I don't mean with the trees, lights, treats, and parties. I mean with the focus being on celebrating Jesus, the Savior of the world. Jesus is central to Christmas, as you see the manger scene played out in many ways. But as soon as Christmas is gone, you don't see the manger, or the pictures of Jesus. At ACS, we have the opportunity to keep our students focused on Jesus. Not only to celebrate Jesus, but to model Jesus' life in all we do. We work to be God worshippers, servant workers, justice seekers, image reflectors, loving communicators, and more! I am so grateful to each of you for allowing our staff to live in to the lives of your children, so that they can celebrate Jesus and be the hands and feet of Jesus to the world around them.

I pray that you all have a blessed Christmas, as we celebrate Jesus!

Serving Him,
Brian Koetje

Our Early Childhood Open House will be held on Thursday, January 16 , starting at 6:30pm. This will be the first time the general public will be able to enroll in Preschool and Child Care for 2019-20. We will be offering Nature-based and Traditional Preschool options, as well as year-round child care! The best promotion for ACS is word of mouth from our current families. We would greatly appreciate if you would tell your friends and family about the Open House and our Early Childhood programs! If you are on Facebook, please share the Open House invitation with your FB friends. The link is  https://www.facebook.com/events/579274765966305/  . Thank you!

On December 13, ACS held the school Spelling Bee for students in grades 3-8 for 30 students who had placed in the top five in their grade on the placement test. Paige Kline was the winner of the school Bee and Tyler Banka was the runner-up. Both Paige and Tyler move on to represent ACS in the Regional Bee in February. Congratulations to both Paige and Tyler!

Calling all 4th-8th graders to come join our Chess Club!   For the months of January and February, we will be having Chess Club every week.
  • When: Thursdays - January 9 - February 27: 3:30-4:30pm
  • Where: ACS Library
  • Why: Learn how to play chess, cooperate with others, and have fun!
  • How to join: There’s a cost of ten dollars ($10), and we will have a sign-up for snacks and drinks! You will need to be signed up by Friday, December 20th. Please return your slip to Mr. Vanden Berg.

Moms in Prayer Each week a group of Moms from ACS, APS, and GV gather for one hour to grow together in praying for our kids, their teachers, and our schools. We meet right here at Allendale Christian on Thursdays  from 8:30-9:30am  in the girls locker room!  All Moms are welcome, whether you desire to grow in this area or if it is your greatest passion.
