You may have noticed our brokers asking very detailed questions about your imports that contain, or based on their classification may contain, aluminum extrusions.
This is due to anti-dumping(AD) and countervailing (CVD) duty rules regarding certain aluminum extrusions issued recently by the International Trade Administration.
It's not always obvious from item descriptions on commercial invoice documents, so we need to ask someone familiar with the item being imported whether it includes aluminum extrusions. Therefore, importers may be asked to complete an Aluminum Extrusion Worksheet. A close reading of the Scope of the investigation may be required to determine whether your import falls under these regulations. Download the worksheet including the Scope here.
Imports of items containing aluminum extrusions can be complicated. For example – Golf clubs have to be broken down by the shaft of the club, the handle, and the head to properly classify for the antidumping and aluminum 232 duties.
Your understanding as we take the steps necessary to comply with the changing rules is appreciated!
