Bonnier Magazine Data Completes Upgrade Project
by Kelly Grace
We are pleased to congratulate Bonnier Magazine Data on their recent successful Advantage upgrade project.

This upgrade gives them the use of Advantage’s Sky UI—an important enhancement to the whole user experience. Overall, the upgrade went extremely well and was finished in a single phase remotely.

Bonnier Magazine Data is located in the Østerbro borough of Copenhagen and specializes in subscription management of weekly and monthly magazines and other media products within the Bonnier companies. They currently manage about 2 million active subscriptions across dozens of titles.
Highlights from St. Petersburg; Advantage Users Group
by Angie Markel

The Advantage Users Group (AUG) recently met in sunny St. Petersburg, FL with a turn-out that represented about a dozen companies, including three overseas attendees from Mediahuis Belgium and Mediahuis Netherlands.

After a warm welcome to our approximately forty attendees, Kevin Gervais from Massachusetts Medical Society introduced the members of the AUG committee. Then he graciously handed things over to our own beloved Dan Heffernan who presented ACS News, Strategy, and Direction. In contrast to most, if not all our clients, Dan noted that ACS has been operating in person for about a year and conveyed how our collaborative workplace continues to be a key ingredient to our company culture. He also talked about recent new sales and projects.

AdvantageCS continues to do about 60,000 hours of development each year on the Advantage platform, and over the coming months, we’ll be continuing to add new payment methods, expanding to run on Linux in addition to the Microsoft stack, continually improving the UX of the product, and re-architecting our reporting solution, among other things.
Welcome New Employee Todd Baker
by Kelly Grace

Todd Baker recently joined Angie Markel Lampi’s Support Center team and comes to AdvantageCS with an extensive background.

Todd earned his bachelor's degree in math from the University of Michigan and his first job was with XPO Logistics. He spent a few years in the pricing department there while he taught himself computer programming. That led to a position as a software developer, but after nine years at the company, Todd wanted to expand his horizons and experience.

He was looking for a career where he could work in person and collaborate with others as a team. Todd heard about the support center business analyst position at AdvantageCS from a couple of people that worked within the company and instantly knew it was the job for him!
Welcome New Employee Christian Fifelski
by Kelly Grace

We are pleased to welcome Christian Fifelski to the AdvantageCS Customer Support team, which is supervised by Eric Burbeck. Christian had previously worked as a business consultant for Rocket Mortgage, but he felt it was time for a change and was searching for something different. The opening at AdvantageCS turned out to be just what he was looking for.

Christian began his undergraduate career at Oakland Community College before transferring to Wayne State University, where he is in the process of earning a degree in Business Administration and Computer Information.

Christian enjoys working at AdvantageCS because of the warm and friendly environment and the people he works with. He is currently working on a client’s system upgrade.

Tradeshow Season 2022
by Dan Heffernan

Tradeshow season is always busy for AdvantageCS! Read about our most recent events at FIPP World Media Congress, SubSummit Conference by SUBTA, and Society for Scholarly Publishing Conference:

FIPP World Media Congress

This year's FIPP World Media Congress took place in Cascais, Portugal from June 7-9. This was the first in-person congress since COVID began. FIPP held the congress virtually over the course of a month in 2020.

The event this year was smaller than previous in-person ones, with only about 400 registrants, but in some ways, it was a better event as a result. With fewer people in attendance, everyone seemed more open and friendly and happy to make new acquaintances. We've found this to be true of other smaller events: everybody talks with everybody, and you get to know a lot of attendees.

The 2 exhibit halls were small and intimate, with about 10 companies exhibiting in each, but the delegates had to go to these to get their food and drink. There were stand-up cocktail tables near the booths, so this produced traffic and an opportunity to talk during lunch and breaks. We had many fruitful conversations with new acquaintances and met old friends as well.
Congratulations to Soon-to-Be Retiree Cindy Twiss
by Kelly Grace

After 44 years of being in the marketing industry, 29 of those years at AdvantageCS, Cindy Twiss has announced her retirement.

She was hired at AdvantageCS (then T&B Computing) as a contract worker to create marketing campaigns. Her later formal job titles included Marketing and Sales Support and Marketing Director, and her unofficial titles included “Contract Queen” because she helped negotiate and modify contracts for new clients, Chief Morale Officer, and the Dress Code Police.

Cindy came to AdvantageCS with an extensive background, she received her bachelor's degree in advertising and marketing from Michigan State University - proud Spartan - and did some post-graduate work at Wayne State University. Her first job was at The Detroit News as a management trainee. Cindy was trained in every single department, including the press room and production, editorial, advertising, circulation, and marketing.

From there, Cindy started at The Aegis Group where she was the Vice President of Circulation in the early 90s. She chose AdvantageCS (then T&B Computing) as a vendor and became the company's first-ever service bureau client. AdvantageCS ran the software for her for about 4 years.
Welcome New Employee Andrew Forche
by Kelly Grace

The newest addition to the Engineering Product Development team led by Paul Sauter is Andrew Forche.

Andrew earned his degree in computer science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. His robotics teacher from high school inspired him to go into the computer science field.

Andrew first heard about Advantage through the career fair at the University of Michigan that we attend every September. He knew this was the perfect spot for him because he greatly enjoyed the people he interviewed with.

A couple of things Andrew loves most about Advantage are that his coworkers are great, everyone is willing to help, and how he looks forward to coming to work. Andrew is currently working on modifications, new features, client requests, and some smaller projects. He is looking forward to the cool new features that are coming to our software.
