Snowmobiles Aren't Weapons Act

Legislation was introduced by South Carolina Congressman Nancy Mace and cosponsored by Matt Gatez from Florida, Democrats Troy Carter from Louisiana and Don Davis from North Carolina joined in the effort.

Although snowmobiles are in the title of the legislation, HR 9568, the text rin the bill refers to motorized vehicles. This bill seeks to make it illegal to "intentionally" use a motor vehicle to "run over, strike, or kill a wild animal" on federal lands managed by the Department of Interior (National Park Service, BLM, and US Fish & Wildlife lands) with the exceptions for wildlife management and avoiding injurty or property damage.

The bill has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.

Snowmobile Clubs - We Need Your Help!

If your snowmobile club has ever held a Club Ride in the Munising, Michigan Area - or if it's on your bucket list to do so -- we need your help!

Please consider writing letters to the Alger County Road Commission, who is planning to close a trail, less than 1-mile long, to the Pictured Rocks National Park. They are claiming snowmobiles have damaged the trail that is on the shoulder of the road.

The Road Commission says the Snowmobiles have done road damage and needs to pay for the repairs -- not the Logging Trucks.....Not the Snow Plows! Snowmobiles?!? Really??

Munising promotes they are Snowmobile Capitol of the World. Their businesses depend on snowmobiles during the winter. Their businesses need the snowmobile tourism.

Please consider writing a letter to:

Letters work!!

We appreciate your assistance in

keeping this trail open!

Efforts to Reform the Endangered Species Act

Congressman Dan Newhouse (R-WA) and Congressman Bruce Westerman (R-AR) introduced the Endangered Species Act (ESA) Amendments Act

Pete Stauber (R-MN) thinks it is clear the ESA is broken. Stauber said, "A half- century after being signed into law, very few species listed as threatened or endangered have ever made it of the list. And whether it be the Gray Wolf or the Northern Long-Eared Bat, Minnesotans are facing the consequences of a broken ESA every day."

"Over the last 50 years, the ESA has failed to be a celebration of recovery and instead has been weaponized for political activism," said Congressman Tom Tiffany (R-WI). "The Amendments gives states more management, and help ensure that animals, like the gray wolf, who have met and exceeded their recovery goal are removed from the list of federal endangered species.

We will keep you updated on the status of this legislation.

Is the US on Track to Meet

it's Climate Goals?

Despite massive investments in clean energy, the United States is struggling to meet its climate goals. Hundreds of billions of dollars were included in the Inflation Reduction Act for incentives for clean energy and climate programs.

Recent studies have shown that the expected drop in greenhouse gas emissions — fueled in part by the climate law — won’t be enough to meet the U.S. goal to cut emissions 50% of 2005 levels by 2030.

Solar Energy

As part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda, the U.S. Department of Energy announced $40 million in investments across the solar energy supply chain, including the selection of four projects to improve the lifecycle of photovoltaic solar systems.

Port Strike??

A strike at East and Gulf coast ports ticked a step closer after union delegates from the International Longshoremen’s Association voiced unanimous support for one if a new labor agreement is not reached in time.

The strike would impact 45,000 dockworkers at 36 ports. The dockworkers are against the automation of job functions at ports and are seeking a 77% raise over 6 years.

Retailers and manufacturers are concerned about the potential for severe disruptions at ports from Maine to Texas starting October. 1.

President Biden is not expected to intervene as he and Congress did to head off a railroad strike in 2022.

A strike could cost the US $5 Billion per day and impact millions of companies, businesses and households.
