IMMEDIATE ACTION IS NEEDED

Important Universal Charitable Deduction Amendment --
please ask Florida's U.S. Senators to say "yes" to this amendment.

What's at Stake for Nonprofits?

A potential loss of over $11 billion a year in charitable contributions if the U.S. Senate passes this week its comprehensive tax reform bill -- Tax Cuts and Jobs Act -- as it is currently written.  Many of the proposed policies will harm nonprofit organizations' efforts to secure their much-needed charitable contributions from a greater number of contributors. For example, according to Independent Sector "by raising the standard deduction and not adding the universal deduction, you will effectively cut out up to 95 percent of Americans from access to the only incentive that is altruistic."

Is there a hopeful sign in the U.S. Senate?

Yes.   U.S. Senator James Lankford, a republican from Oklahoma, has agreed to introduce a  Universal Charitable Deduction amendment to the U.S. Senate Bill --
Tax Cuts and Jobs Act . His amendment would allow all tax payers to make tax-deductible charitable contributions without itemizing their deductions.

Please ask Florida U.S. Senators Marco Rubio and Bill Nelson to vote "yes" on Senator Lankford's Universal Charitable Deduction Amendment to the Senate's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act bill if introduced for a vote in the U.S. Senate.

Call their offices and email them NOW.  Please do not put off this action request.
