Marni is the Democratic nominee to flip California’s 48th congressional district from red to blue. CA-48 is one of the most competitive swing districts in the country. In 2024, it voted for Vice President Harris by just 2.4%, but narrowly went against Governor Newsom in 2022. Nationwide, only a handful of other districts are as competitive as this one, making it one of the best chances for Democrats to gain a seat in Congress. You can find a link to RSVP here.
If you haven’t met Marni yet, she is a San Diego City Councilmember, a former labor attorney for President Obama, and a returned Peace Corps volunteer. Since launching her campaign, she has been added to the DCCC’s Red to Blue program and has earned the support of EMILY’s List, AAJ PAC, Equality PAC, the California Federation of Labor Unions (AFL-CIO), Brady PAC, GIFFORDs PAC, New Politics, the California Teachers Association, and dozens more elected officials and labor unions. In 2020, she flipped an R+2 district on the San Diego City Council, and she is ready to flip a competitive district blue again.
On the City Council, Marni passed California's first bill banning untraceable ghost guns – and beat the NRA gun lobby in court when they sued. She also led the charge to join Minneapolis's lawsuit against ICE and blew the whistle against ICE weapons training in our community. In Congress, she will work to get ICE's masked mobs off our streets, stand up to Trump’s attacks, and protect our neighbors from lawless government overreach.
