ACT's Community Trails

Paid for! But how did we get there?

By Joan Hull

The Arundel Conservation Trust (ACT) has successfully paid off the mortgage for the Arundel Community Trails property. To celebrate this milestone, ACT hosted a community event on May 31, 2024,

Joan Hull, former president and one of the original founders of ACT, spoke about the early beginnings of the dream and vision that sparked what is today the Arundel Conservation Trust. Read what she had to say...

Family Trail Building

Last Saturday July 13th, ACT held their first Family Trail Building Day - while the rain was pouring down in nearby Kennebunk, the trails and families at the Arundel Community Trails were staying dry.

We had two stations where kids and youth helped adults measure, cut and attach boardwalks to create catwalks that will be used on the wet areas of the Arundel Community Trails. Time flew by — but before we headed out we were able to plant some lupine seeds that will make their appearance in 2 years time! Each kiddo brought home a bag of lupine seeds that they will be able to plant at their homes or next time they are out on their favorite walk.

What a great way to make the world more beautiful.

We are grateful for the parents and the little hands that made this day a fun learning experience for all! Stay tuned for more trail volunteer days and other family trail building days!

Meet Our Volunteers

Nikki is ACT's Treasurer and heads up the Finance Team.

Nikki discovered the ACT Trails soon after moving to Arundel while walking the Eastern Trail. Arundel is important to her, and she strongly identifies with ACT's mission to conserve local land and provide safe spaces for community.

“I enjoy being a part of a welcoming, supportive, and hardworking group that achieves their goals while helping the community - what’s better than that!?”

Nikki is also the Finance and Outreach Manager of the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust and contributes this valuable expertise to ACT.

We'd love to have you join our wonderful volunteer team. We need committee members, trail blazers and day volunteers for our September Trail Fest

Tell me how to volunteer with ACT!

A Mystery and a 'Thank You'

Paper Wasp removal

Friend of ACT Ted St Armand said "Yes" when we asked him to remove a paper wasp nest under one of our Red Trail Bridges. We were all surprised to find that the wasps were gone when he arrived to handle the situation.

Did they move on? Or, was it you who moved them? Let us know info@arundeltrust.org. Thank you to Ted and to our mystery wasp handler!

Where in Arundel?

A little whimsy and joy from Benjamin Kelly at his "Arundel Zoo"

Can you guess where this is in Arundel?
