Last year's runners had great things to say about this event. Many had never done a trail run before and were surprised to discover just how much fun it can be. This one is a flat, shady course that winds throughout the ACT Community Trails and the Eastern Trail. It has also been certified as a Youth Trail run. With the new playground, the Kids Bike Trail Race on our Flow Trail, there is a lot for the family to do while you run.

There will be Pizza, a free beer for all runners, and a live band. Come join the fun.

Forest Bathing — Save the Date

Forest Bathing Walk with Eric Blasco, Saturday September 28 from 10am - 12pm.
Forest Bathing, or Nature Therapy, is a practice that supports the health and wellness of people and the land they are on. Through an immersive process participants are encouraged to slow down and allow their senses to open, deepening the reciprocal relationship between participants and the forest. This process can support the wholeness and well-being of humans, the lands we inhabit, and other than human worlds.
On this walk, we will take a slow, physically gentle wander in the woods. Through a series of invitations, participants will be encouraged to interact with the land and its beings, in a way that feels appropriate (or intuitive) to themselves.
Eric Blasco grew up on a farm in central New England, exploring and imagining in the woods. He has been a gardener, farmer, poet, builder, chef, facilitator and educator throughout his personal and professional life– connecting with the land in many different ways. For the last 8 years he has led and participated in 50+ workshops and gatherings dedicated to men's work and building positive, generative masculinity.

Meet Our Volunteers

Sammy Mills

Sammy Mills serves as Co-chair of the ACT PR Committee. She comes to the ACT with a digital marketing and website management background, and a deep love for the outdoors, which is her sanctuary. She enjoys making the outdoors more accessible to the community and believes the outdoors is a powerful healing source that can impact our mental, physical, and spiritual health in a positive way. She believes in preserving land to limit the development of natural areas which is vital for protecting ecosystems and wildlife.

Sammy, her husband, and their son regularly hit the trails after work or on weekends to stretch their legs. She feels fortunate that there is a location such as the ACT trails, away from the road, where her pup can run off-leash in the shaded woods. She takes pride in looking back on all that the ACT has accomplished as a group, and is thankful for the friendships she has developed with fellow ACTers.

We'd love to have you join our wonderful volunteer team. We need committee members, trail blazers and day volunteers for our September Trail Fest
