Action Alert! Today, over 100 servers, bussers, and small, independent neighborhood business owners came to fight! Chicago City Council listened! They voted 30-18 to freeze the tip credit, a meaningful step toward protecting our restaurant workers.
Thank you to everyone who shared their very moving personal stories. We are also grateful to the Alders who supported this effort, with a special thank you to Alders Gilbert Villegas, Silvana Tabares, Marty Quinn, Matt O'Shea, and Samantha Nugent.
But the fight continues! We are not at the finish line. We must continue to advocate for our workers to ensure their freeze is preserved and there is a future for restaurants in Chicago.
