Congress is negotiating the short-term funding bill (Continuing Resolution), and our Connecticut's delegation have introduced a House and Senate version that includes important provisions requiring HUD to renew, for one year, all existing Continuum of Care grants expiring in FY2026.
We need you to call your members of Congress in support of Section 166 (p. 36, line 17) of the FY 2026 Continuing Resolution, and tell them that Section 166 MUST remain in the final bill. This provision will keep our neighbors housed, stabilize providers, and prevent higher public costs.
What You Need to Know:
- The CoC and YHDP grants are expiring in 2026, and Section 166 of the proposed Continuing Resolution would renew them for one year, with critical cost-of-living adjustments and fair market rent updates.
- This funding will keep thousands of Connecticut residents housed and our homeless response system stable. We cannot afford service shutdowns, staff layoffs, or people losing housing. The time to act is today.
- We are deeply grateful for the leadership and partnership of our Congressional delegation, and we are asking them to make sure this provision is a top priority in final negotiations.

Your script (takes less than one minute):
“Hello, my name is ___ from ___. I’m calling to urge [Senator/Representative Name] to prioritize and support Section 166 in the Continuing Resolution. This provision ensures a one-year renewal of all 2026 CoC and YHDP grants with cost-of-living adjustments and updated fair market rents.
Section 166 MUST be included in the final bill - it will keep our neighbors housed, stabilize providers, and prevent higher public costs due to shelter, emergency rooms, and jail use.
Thank you.”
