The Community Provider Network of Rhode Island (CPNRI) a non-profit trade association of 23 organizations continues to advocate for supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) through the COVID-19 crisis and we need your help to ensure persons' with I/DD are supported throughout this crisis.
We all know the people who do the work of caring for people and supporting them in their lives, direct support professionals (DSPs), do so out of a deep commitment to the people with disabilities they support. I want to thank everyone who has stepped up to advocate for increased funding from the state to pay for wage increases, and it is our intent to advocate for continuation of these increases for our workers.
The financial future of the state of Rhode Island, the primary funder of all I/DD services, is incredibly uncertain. This is why
we need YOU
to participate in our campaign to raise awareness for the essential nature of the support that providers offer people with I/DD. We need to sustain funding for these essential services as well as the much deserved increases in funding to pay for wage increases for our essential workers.
We must make our state legislators aware of the need to protect these essential services through email and phone calls. Your calls and emails will ensure our community is in a strong position through a very challenging budget process for Rhode Island.
