After last summer’s devastating drought, there’s no question about the need for swift action to protect our river.
Climate change isn’t coming––it’s here––and droughts are becoming more frequent, long-lasting, and severe. However, even during extreme drought, the state cannot require outdoor watering restrictions, and it's left to cities and towns to decide whether or not to conserve water.
This patchwork approach is not working––the time is now to pass the Drought Bill (H.861/S.475). This vital legislation gives the state the ability to call for the necessary water conservation measures to protect our river and all who depend on it.
