Family,

We rise to recognize the 7th Commemoration of the Mother Emanuel AME Martyrdom. Rev. Dr. James Forbes, Jr. (Healing of the Nations Institute) and SDPC have partnered with Mother Emanuel AME in preparing a National Bible Study for everyone who will join us on this healing journey.

“What Kind of Soil Are We?  What Kind is God Calling Us to Become?” is a nationally coordinated weekend of Bible study, prayer, and preaching June 17-19, 2022, beginning in commemoration of the Martyrs of Mother Emanuel and concluding in celebration of Juneteenth, the federal holiday marking the emancipation of African Americans from slavery.

You can watch the Bible Study event LIVE on Facebook, June 17, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. EST/6:00 p.m. CST!

Dr. Forbes envisions the 7th anniversary in 2022 as an exceptional opportunity for clergy across the country to preach on that passage, asking within the nexus of race, history, and politics at this critical time: “What kind of soil are we? What kind are we called to become? How can we become good soil in which seeds of the gospel of grace and redemption can grow? What is God saying to America about its spiritual dilemma?”

We urge all of you to visit our website, https://sdpconference.info/national-bible-study/ to review, download and use our Bible study ministry resources, including an interfaith version, prepared by Dr. Marvin McMickle and SDPC.

We pray that the Spirit may move mightily in the study and preaching to find and plow good soil in the peril and promise of this season of reckoning, where seeds of grace and redemption will take root to grow strong.
