Hello Everyone,
As you know we have been engaged with Program Council members for in person advocacy with our Congressional members this August. We targeted eight Congressional members and both Senators for in person meetings. The reason for these meetings is to ring the alarm bells for Congress to act on VOCA. Currently $1.2 billion is in the Crime Victims Trust Fund and the appropriations request for FFY24 is $1.9 billion. This would keep steady funding with FFY23. The Crime Victims Trust Fund currently does not have the extra $700 million to keep steady funding. We are urging Congress to find the $700 million outside the Crime Victims Trust Fund to avoid VOCA cuts.
Three organizations have come together to send a national sign on letter, the National Network to End Domestic Violence, the National Children’s Alliance, and the National Alliance to End Sexual Violence. We need you to act NOW by signing on to the letter. You can sign on the letter by using this form. The letter is view only and the form is to sign on to the letter. Deadline is Friday, August 25, 2023. Please do so as soon as possible!
