Earlier this week, you received an email regarding Health & Safety Inspections. As a reminder, between September 6-11 all spaces will be entered for a visual inspection of student rooms to look for health and safety hazards/violations.


Below you'll find a quick reminder of the basic points of H&S inspections, but you can read the entire notice here


Additionally, we ask that you complete your Occupancy Verification no later than Wednesday, September 7 via the Housing Portal.


These processes allow us to ensure your safety within your community for the coming semester and we appreciate your cooperation and timely response.


OCCUPANCY VERIFICATION


All residents are required to log into the Housing Portal and complete the following steps prior to September 7. Please note that failure to complete this process in a timely manner will result in additional follow-up from our office.


  • Log into the Housing Portal.


  • Select the "Occupancy Verification" Icon

  • Click "Select" next to the Fall 2022 booking associated with your profile.


  • Select the status from the dropdown that applies to you.


  • Be sure to answer the secondary key status prompt.


  • Sign using your WFU ID.


PLEASE NOTE: 

Any notification of a room change(not previously arranged with RL&H) after September 7 may result in an unauthorized room change charge being added to your account.

HEALTH & SAFETY INSPECTIONS


  • Between September 6-11, all spaces will be entered for inspections. 


Violations include but are not limited to:

  • Unsafe extension cords
  • Improperly lofted beds/Cinder Block Use
  • Excessive trash
  • Storage/use of lounge furniture in your room assignment
  • Blocked egress
  • Crowded ventilation
  • Items hung from ceiling/sprinkler sprinkler
  • Tampering with smoke alarms
  • Candles
  • Storage of flammable items
  • You may have 24 hours to permanently address some violations; failure to do so may result in additional charges and/or referral to the University’s student conduct process.


PLEASE NOTE: 

Specific violations of the Guide to Community Living and any violations of the WFU Student Code of Conduct will be documented and result in an immediate response.


  • Community staff will close and lock doors as they finish inspecting rooms. Be sure to take your keys and student ID with you as you leave your room during the week.
