Frequently Asked Questions
I have a Vulnerable Sector Check that I completed for my employment and/or other charitable volunteer activities. Can I submit a copy instead of completing a new one?
- If the check you possess is a Vulnerable Sector Screening/Check (VSC/VSS), and it was obtained in the 2023 calendar year, you can submit the check as proof of your screening.
- If it is any other type of police check or if it was obtained outside of the 2023 calendar year, you will need to apply for a new VSC.
I have recently applied for or submitted a VSC to JA Central Ontario to volunteer for your in class experience programs (i.e. Economics for Success, Dollars for Sense, etc.). Do I need to complete another check?
- Please email us before proceeding with the VSC and we will double check our records.
Why do I need a Vulnerable Sector Check?
- JA Central Ontario has a legal and moral responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of those we serve, those who work for us and those who come into contact with our operations. Please review our full safeguarding statement here.
***If you are no longer able to volunteer this year for the JA Company Program, please email us to let us know and we will remove you from our volunteer list.***
