Governance Change Website | Frequently Asked Questions | Information Session Recordings

Greetings!

On April 6, ACVS will open voting on proposed updates to the College’s Constitution and Bylaws. The Board of Regents strongly recommends approval of these bylaws.

These updates are a key component of the governance transition to separate ACVS’s certification functions and membership activities. The proposed bylaws will:

  • consolidate the current Constitution and Bylaws into a single governing document;
  • establish an independent Certification Council within the College to oversee all certification and fellowship programs;
  • modernize the governance framework and simplify language; and
  • clarify the governance structure and operational procedures.

Ballot Structure

The ballot will include four items:

  • Item 1: Approval of the proposed bylaws (core components).
  • Item 2: Establish an annual certification fee increase cap of 5%.
  • Item 3: Grant the Board of Regents authority to create non-voting membership categories (e.g., resident membership).
  • Item 4: Reduce the membership tenure requirements for Board of Regents and officer eligibility.

Items 2–4 are presented separately in direct response to Diplomate feedback. Items 2–4 are contingent on approval of item 1.
