Memorial of St. Polycarp, Bishop & Martyr
“If the Lord wills it, we shall live to do this or that” (James 4:13-17)
Loving God, you called Saint Polycarp and made him a bishop who loved you and all people. He was compassionate to sinners. Since you, O God, were the one who strengthened him in his mission, his actions were always in accord with his words, “the will of God be done.” Through his intercession, we pray that our words and actions will be done according to your will. Forgive us when we fail to do this; send your Holy Spirit to help and guide us toward the path of holiness and righteousness. This we ask through Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
