The Arabian Horse –

By Antoine-Louis Barye (French, 1796–1875)

On View Through Friday, November 11th

In The Arabian Horse by Antoine-Louis Barye, we bring together important casts that focus on the Arabian’s timeless prestige: Cheval Turk, Arab Horseman Killing a Lion, Arab Horseman – The Boar Hunt, Horse Surprised by a Lion, General Bonaparte, Tartar Warrior Checking His Horse, Charles VII, and Half Blood Horse.

The father of the Animalier school, Barye was a master at capturing the wild energy of a stallion just as he could interpret the innocence of a running elephant or a curious rabbit. This exhibition provides a unique opportunity to view a selection of Barye's Arabian horses, stunning examples of his lifelong work transforming the living, breathing animal into a detailed bronze sculpture.

This Weekend : ADAA Gallery Walk

The gallery will feature a special selection of 20th century American Modernist paintings and sculpture
