Kevin Dixon, Ph.D., Steps In as ADAMH Interim CEO

The ADAMH Board of Trustees announced that ADAMH Vice President of Community and Cultural Engagement Kevin Dixon, Ph.D. will be the interim CEO as the board continues their search for the permanent CEO. David A. Royer announced his retirement earlier this year and officially retired on October 31, 2019.

2019 ADAMH Annual Meeting was held on
Tuesday, October 15, honoring many of the amazing individuals who make an impact in our community.
Randall M. Dana Award: William Burton, the Manager of Outcomes and Community Engagement at the Maryhaven Addiction Stabilization Center
Barry Mastrine Award: Rapid Response Emergency Addiction and Crisis Team (RREACT) of the City of Columbus Division of Fire
Extraordinary Mile Award: Christopher Menapace, Assistant Chief, Whitehall Division of Fire
Art Lynn Consumer & Family Advocate Award: Shireen Mehta, Pathway Clubhouse member & Advisory Board member, Concord Counseling Services’ Pathway Clubhouse
In addition to our annual award winners, we recognized
David A. Royer, who is retiring after 19 years as the ADAMH Board of Franklin County CEO, as well as
Jerry Revish, who is also celebrating his retirement.
Members of our
Where Better Begins. campaign were also featured at this year's meeting.
Lori Criss, Director of the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services, joined us as our keynote speaker this year.
We also recognized four
outgoing ADAMH Board Members: Rory McGuiness, Damon Muldoon, Irma Phillips-Carmichael, Ph.D., Audrey Begun, Ph.D.

Each November, the nation takes time to celebrate, recognize and honor family caregivers. Caregiving is a difficult and never-ending job. People providing care and support for loved ones pour their heart and soul into their work, but you can't pour from an empty cup. This year, and every year, ADAMH wants to encourage caregivers to take time for self-care, too.

2020 Community Mini-Grant Funds are Now Available
|
ADAMH is now accepting applications for the 2020 Mini-Grant Program. Non-profit organizations can apply for funds to support programs or events that raise awareness of mental illness or addiction, promote health and wellness, promote prevention activities or fight stigma. The deadline is 5 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month and you must apply at least 60 days before your program or event occurs.
Here are a few programs that ADAMH supported in the past:
• A day of empowerment and inspiration for teenage girls, moms, and mentors to raise awareness about dating violence.
• A one-day program to address mental health stigma in the African American Community.
• A family-friendly tailgate event before home football games.
• A one-day event offering educational programs and promoting health and wellness resources in the community.

- The Franklin County LOSS International Survivors of Suicide Day Breakfast is on Saturday, November 23, from 9:30 to 11:30 am at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. Learn More.

- TAPS (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) Support Group, for anyone who has lost someone who served in the military, meets the first Tuesday of every month from 7:00-8:30. For registration information email Abby@franklincountyloss.org
- There will be two 10-week Survivor of Suicide Support Groups for the Winter. One begins on Monday, Jan. 6, 2020, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Learn More. The other will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Learn More.
- The next prospective volunteer Info Session for LOSS is Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020, from 6 to 8 pm. Learn More.

- Concord Counseling Services is hosting a career fair on Friday, December 6. Learn More.
- Directions for Youth & Families is hosting their third Winter is Here concert in 2020 featuring great music and networking, including some repeat performances from their outstanding partner bands. - North Community Counseling's FREE Women’s Empowerment Program now has seven groups located across Columbus, Ohio, and more are being added! This program provides women with the skills, support, and education they need to gain independence and handle the challenges women face. This program can also provide transportation to program and group-related activities, child care, financial assistance, personal care items, and more to reduce barriers in participants’ lives. Women do not need to be NCCC clients to join the program, and we serve all women between the ages of 12 and 64. To see all of the available groups, visit northcommunity.com!
- North Community Counseling currently has no wait lists for psychiatry appointments and most appointments are scheduled within one week! NCCC also has a child psychiatrist available. To schedule an appointment, please contact their intake line at 614.261.3196.
- North Community Counseling's new ACT Team (Assertive Community Treatment) is an all-inclusive treatment team that consists of therapists, case managers, psychiatric providers, and nurses. Together, these assist clients with basic needs, mental and medical health issues, addiction, supported employment, and peer support to improve their quality of life. - Coming in 2020, North Community Counseling will be introducing a new LGBTQ+ program! Stay tuned for more information, as well as start dates.
- Alvis has openings in their SHINE Recovery House for women (Stable Housing to Inspire, Nurture & Empower). This is a Level II Recovery House that provides 6-12 months of transitional housing for ladies with a goal of transitioning to successful, independent living. For more information, view the flier.
