An Update from the ADAMH System of Care

Understanding Community Needs

As we find ourselves just days away from the Nov. 3 election, we are reminded that the important addiction and mental health programs provided by the ADAMH network are only possible through the support of Franklin County voters.

ADAMH remains grateful for the strong support Franklin County residents have shown in the past and confident that voters will again support an investment in the ADAMH network of care.

For over four decades Franklin County voters have entrusted ADAMH with their tax dollars in order to help the most vulnerable in our community. With this responsibility comes our commitment to become a more nimble organization that is responsive to the community’s needs – both unmet and emerging.

ADAMH has launched a community assessment to ensure we are identifying service gaps and addressing needs, particularly those of underserved populations.

ADAMH invites all members of the Franklin County community to participate in this assessment - including service providers, individuals who have received care and their family members, community leaders and the general public. Measurement Resources Company, a third party, will collect information through a combination of online surveys and focus groups.

I encourage you to promote and participate in this assessment. Please visit adamhfranklin.org. Provider and community surveys are located on the site. The deadline to submit a survey is Nov. 30.

ADAMH is partnering with Measurement Resources Company to complete a community-wide survey to gain a better understanding of the most important services needed and to identify service gaps. We are inviting all members of the Franklin County community to participate and all respondents will remain anonymous. Please complete the survey by Nov. 30.

The Collision of Two Crises

- Ohio Opioid Education Alliance

The collision of two crises – the opioid epidemic and the COVID-19 pandemic – is impacting the mental health of Ohioans and increasing the risk of substance misuse and abuse among adults and youth. Please take a moment to hear from City of Columbus Public Health Commissioner Dr. Mysheika Roberts and Franklin County Public Health Commissioner Joe Mazzola on why we must continue to talk to our children about healthy coping habits and the dangers of prescription drug misuse. ADAMH Walks for You

Although we haven't been able to attend events like we used to, ADAMH is still participating in community events. ADAMH staff walked in partnership with NAMI Franklin County and NAMI Ohio on World Mental Health Day to raise awareness of mental health and to make a difference! Erika Clark Jones joined them at their offices while other ADAMH staff walked at our office downtown or joined by walking in their own neighborhoods.

Youth Services

Summer camps and after school programs have looked different this year, but ADAMH has been working with local partners, like Community for New Direction, to help Franklin County youth continue to learn and get the resources they need. These kids are showing off their new ADAMH face masks!

ADAMH also is continuing to partner with all 16 Franklin County public school districts. Learn more about what services are offered in your district here.

Recover for Life - Franklin County Public Health

The disease of addiction has hit Franklin County hard. We know that recovery won’t happen overnight. It isn’t a one-time thing we get over and move on from, it’s a constant on-going battle. That’s why we’re in this for the long haul, helping our residents recover to save their lives and stay in recovery for life. Together, we are recovering from opioid addiction as well as recovering from the stigma that surrounds this disease.

ADAMH is joining Franklin County Public Health in the launch of this new, lifesaving campaign: Recover for Life.

News Updates From Our Providers

Volunteer Opportunity: The Franklin County Suicide Prevention Hotline, operated through North Central Mental Health Services, is accepting new volunteers. Another round of training will begin in March, 2021. Training will be held virtually, but volunteers will be expected to report to the office for their shifts on the phone line. Anyone interested should email [email protected] or call 614.299.6600 ext. 2026 for more information.
