ADAO is using the extra daylight this summer to keep gaining strength and making moves. Kicking off AugustAsbestos Action Month, The Montana Standard published their view entitled, “A precious opportunity to ban asbestos now.” The piece details why it is the perfect time to pass The Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now (ARBAN) Act of 2019 and safeguard the health and safety of all Americans.
There is also no better time to help us get ARBAN passed and signed into law! Join us in telling Congress to move the bill to a U.S. House of Representatives full floor vote by signing our petition today. We are hoping to get 200,00 petition signatures before we send the signatories to Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Hoyer, and Minority Leader McCarthy on August 14th.
ADAO is excited to announce that though we will continue to practice social distancing, we do have many exciting summer events. On August 18, ADAO will host our 6th virtual conversation, this time with musician Jordan Zevon, to discuss his father Warren Zevon's battle with Mesothelioma, Jordan’s work as ADAO’s national spokesperson, his musical career, and the upcoming 2020 Record Store Day, which is set for August 29! Comedian, actor, writer and filmmaker Judd Apatow has curated his personal Warren Zevon “Greatest Hits” collection in honor of legendary musician Warren Zevon. A portion of the proceeds from this vinyl-only release will go towards ADAO.
Join us, virtually and physically, August 8 for the fourth annual “Ridin’ The Wind,”hosted by Jill Cagle in loving memory of her husband Rob.
Thank you for donating to the fabulous Omaze campaign benefiting ADAO! We will announce the winner soon, so keep your eyes peeled and fingers crossed!
The 12th Annual Miles for Meso 5k Race and 3k Fun Run/Walk organized by Simmons Hanly Conroy, will once again designate all proceeds from the event to benefit ADAO! This year's event will be a virtual race and begin on September 26, which is National Mesothelioma Awareness Day, and will go through Oct. 2.
