President's Message

Momentum. The national and international ban asbestos solidarity and efforts have never been stronger or more successful as seen in the decrease in mining and use!

Holding the EPA accountable. July 12th marked the 30 year anniversary of the EPA's failure to ban asbestos imports and use in the United States. Since 1989, over 1 million Americans have lost their lives to asbestos-caused diseases.
In honor of this painful anniversary, ADAO put together a video and the first-ever
comprehensive report examining the impact on public health, the environment and the economy.

Great News. Eighteen Attorney's General have voiced support for the bicameral and bipartisan Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act (ARBAN). This news comes shortly after the AG's from 10 states and the District of Columbia joined forces with ADAO and filed suit against the EPA for a 'right to know' who imports and uses asbestos.

Be Heard. But we still need your help: call your members of Congress and urge them to support ARBAN, and ask them to send their staffers to our 14th congressional briefing. You can also participate in our 6-word Message2Congress Ban Asbestos quote campaign about how asbestos has impacted you and/or why you want a ban.

Not all bans are created equal. Many people are asking about the New Jersey state ban and noticed it doesn't ban raw asbestos imports. Read more in " Why Federal Ban Asbestos Legislation is the Only Way to Stop Imports and Use || How State by State Ban Bills Fail."

United. Join ADAO as we launch our plans and actions for Mesothelioma Awareness Month this September. In person or virtually, join ADAO's Miles for Meso "Biking for a Ban" Team, submit a Warrior name for a tribute bib and/or for our annual video.

"Hear Asbestos. Think Prevention." The upcoming school year is just around the corner. Please read and share our blog and follow our back to school checklist to ensure your kids are safe from asbestos exposure in the classroom this school year.

Landmark steps forward at home and abroad. Colombian President Duque signed Colombia's ban bill into law! Congratulations to Daniel, Nadia Biel, and everyone else for this amazing achievement.  We have never been closer to a U.S. federal asbestos ban without any loopholes or exemptions. With you by our side, we are destined for success.
