July President's Message
As we dive into summer, we reflect back on our recent work while also looking forward to what is to come.

First, we’d like to take a moment to remember Dr. Eula Bingham who we lost this month. Dr. Bingham was recognized world-wide as a leader in the fight for protecting the health and safety of the working people. During her 90 years, she championed the cause for occupational health and safety.

Last month, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Science Advisory Committee on Chemicals (SACC) held a public meeting to discuss EPA’s flawed and narrow draft risk evaluation for asbestos. During the meeting, ADAO and other experts commented on the dangerously narrow draft risk evaluation . ADAO calls on the EPA to evaluate all fibers, all diseases, and all conditions of use.

As summer continues, so do our events! On July 20 ADAO will host our 5th Zoom conversation this time with award-winning photojournalist, Earl Dotter , to discuss his powerful BADGES: A Memorial Tribute to Asbestos Workers exhibit and posters.

We are thrilled to announce that Record Store Day is now set for August 29! In honor of legendary musician Warren Zevon — who passed away from mesothelioma in 2003 — comedian, actor, writer and filmmaker Judd Apatow has curated his personal Warren Zevon “Greatest Hits” collection, a vinyl-only release for “Record Store Day.” Thanks to Jordan Zevon, ADAO National Spokesperson, a portion of the proceeds album proceeds will benefit ADAO.

Last but not least, Omaze is offering one lucky winner the chance to take a 7-day, 6-night trip to Hawaii and bring three guests! What could be better than that? The best part is, every donation supports ADAO’s education, prevention, and policy efforts aimed at banning the use of asbestos.
