President's Message

Lets get ready for September!

Our Ban Asbestos Petition got a makeover from our friends at Change.org, which helped us boost our signatures and pass our initial goal of 15,000! Make sure to sign and share the petition to help us get to our new goal: 150,000 signatures.  Tell the EPA to do their job and ban asbestos NOW!

As your kids are getting back to school, make sure you check out our ADAO Checklist: 3 Key Steps to Keeping Your Kids Safe from Asbestos This School Year.

This September we will take part in both Mesothelioma Awareness Month, and Mesothelioma Awareness Day on September 26. There are many ways to honor or remember a Mesothelioma Warrior throughout the month of September. Here are a few ways:
This Mesothelioma Awareness Day ADAO will host it's  13th Congressional Staff Briefing. This is our most important briefing to date, as it is a critical time for Congress to urge the EPA to do their job. ADAO will also announce new legal and legislative actions.

ADAO is profoundly saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. David Sugarbaker, world renowned thoracic surgeon, and mesothelioma researcher. We will always be grateful for his work in the field of mesothelioma.

To wrap up the month, I'd like to invite you to join us online on September 26 for a Mesothelioma Awareness Day #ENDMeso Twitter chat with a rich group of Warriors, experts, advocates, and more.

Together, change is possible.

We encourage you to contact your two U.S. Senators and urge them to hold Judge Kavanaugh's nomination hearings scheduled for September 4 & 5 until there is a thorough, public examination of his judicial records.  The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) minority sent an  Aug. 24 letter  to Grassley requesting copies of all records pertaining to Kavanaugh's involvement in matters that related to the environment during his tenure at the White House as Staff Secretary and White House Counsel.  Be heard. Sign the Legal Defense Fund petition, read EWG's " Will Brett Kavanaugh Keep Asbestos Legal?" and use your voice throughout social media with #StopKavanaugh. When the asbestos ban makes it to the Supreme Court, we will loose if  Kavanaugh is confirmed.
