Shining a Light on 
Youth Addiction 

The Opiate Task Force invites you to join them on May 9th for a musical performance by Matt Butler and a screening of the documentary film,

We hope this event will serve as a catalyst for a dialogue to develop our community response to youth addiction and recovery. Download the event flyer here.

Did you know:
  • In the ADM system alone, over 100 youth (ages14-18) received services for alcohol or other drugs over the last three years.
  • Over 15% of Summit County's middle and high school students admitted to taking a prescription medicine that was not prescribed for them. (YRBS, 2013)
  • Nearly 22% of middle and high school students reported attending a party where parents permitted underage alcohol use (YRBS, 2013)
 


Family Matters Education Program

Oriana House is now offering  the Family Matters Education program for the public. It is designed to help families touched by addiction heal by providing hope, education and support. 

The program takes place at St. Hedwig's every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The address is 213 East Glenwood Avenue. Participants are requested to register by calling 330-996-2222.

NAMI 
Summit County 
Family to Family Class 
Starts June 1st

NAMI Summit County is currently registering for its free Family to Family training which begins June 1, 2017 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.  This course is designed for family members and close friends of those with serious mental illness and is designed to assist families in helping their loved ones on their recovery journey.  

It is a 12 session program which meets once a week for 2-2.5 hours. The next session will be held at Community Support Services, 150 Cross Street, Akron. To register, contact NAMI Summit County at  info@namisummit.org or 330-252-1188.
