ADR QUARTERLY - WINTER 2018
The Judge Judith O. Hollinger Program in Alternative Dispute Resolution at the University of Southern California's Gould School of Law continues to redefine conflict resolution education, adapting each year to an ever-changing industry to support growth, innovation and practical impact.

Cheers to an impressive, ADRenaline-driven year at USC! For some highlights:
Leading the Field
Lecturer Kenneth Cloke brought practical experience to our ADR classrooms while leading the mediation industry in 2018. From publishing his latest book while teaching Organizational Conflict at USC Gould to serving as the keynote speaker for the SCMA conference, we are honored to have such a collaborative mind in ADR as part of our program.
Elected in 2018 to the SCMA Board of Directors, our own Joseph Jeong (LLM in ADR '19) will be advocating for the benefits of mediation and promoting community awareness of the mediation process in the years ahead. He will also participate in the finance and program committees while completing his LLM in ADR at USC Gould.

Driving Practical Impact
Community Focus:

Delivering essential services to their communities in California and beyond, the Los Angeles Fire Department relies on teamwork and trust. In a new collaboration with the Los Angeles Fire Department, recent graduates, Maureen Maloney (LLM in ADR ’18) and Jim Sullivan (MDR ’18) helped resolve conflicts between LAFD firefighters.

Through USC Gould’s Mediation Clinic, we collaborated with the LAFD to recognize the singular issues faced by employees and provided an avenue for open and collaborative discussion.
Career Focus:

Each year, the USC Gould ADR program hosts a number of events, ranging from career-focused workshops (April’s “Non-Traditional and Unexplored Career Paths”) to discourse about global growth (September’s “HKIAC and Development of ADR in Asia”) to innovative collaboration (April’s “USC vs. Cornell – ADR Scrimmage”).

A Recognized Course Provider school for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, at USC Gould our students are able to join as members after completing International Arbitration.
Advancing Industry Collaboration
USC Gould’s ADR program prides itself on hosting or supporting a number of annual symposia and conferences that bring the ADR community together to share ideas, opinions and resolutions.
