Inauguration Day Coverage Features ADS Student Voices
On January 6th, The American Dream School community was shaken to its core as we witnessed the violent attack on our nation's Capitol building. Yesterday, exactly two weeks later, we celebrated with pride and joy the swearing-in of the 46th President and Vice-President of the United States, hosting viewing parties and discussions.

In conversations with the media, our students and faculty spoke about the day's significance with gravity, emotion and, above all, hope:
"To have diversity expresses that there's change coming"
- Patricia M, age 15, on CBS 2
"Today's history lesson at American Dream Charter School in the south Bronx was not about looking back at the past but rather about experiencing history in the making," reported CBS 2 New York's Hazel Sanchez.
"También reflejo en mis abuelos y como se sintieron a haber dado por la pandemia y como ellos fueron víctimas."
- Brian, age 16, on Univision 4
"Estudiantes en una escuela secundaria en el Bronx siguieron paso a paso la ceremonia de juramentación y entre otras cosas dijeron que esto les hace sentir esperanza para su futuro," reportó Univision 41 News.
"Today is the start of a different kind of nation."
- Layla, age 17, on FOX 5
"At the American Dream Charter School in the Mott Haven section of the south Bronx, students witnessing history over Zoom," reported FOX 5 News' Jodi Goldberg, referring to ADS's Inauguration Day virtual viewing event.
