LETTER FROM GUNEL ALASGAROVA
|
|
Dear Friends,
I graduated with my Master of Education from Kent State University on May 13, 2022. Hooray!
What an amazing, life-changing, and milestone accomplishment for a woman from a small, young, and oriental country who devoted all her life to the education system. It is hard to describe my joy, pride, and honor being in the graduation gown and cap, holding my diploma, hearing your name, and making my family proud. It was a time when I was on the moon from happiness, and I wanted to shout out to everyone to hear that I had completed an astounding level up.
Yes, “I have graduated”; however, under one letter “I” there are/were many supportive, encouraging, and facilitating names who were always with me in my American Education journey. First of all, I would like to thank all my sponsors, including the Fulbright Foreign Student Program, Kent State University, A. Margaret Boyd Overseas Fellowship, and ADSOEF. I will always be grateful to my sponsors for their support, companionship, and engagement. I could realize my lifelong dream of studying in the United States only because of you!
Second, I am thankful to my friendly and attentive university professors, IIE advisor, and all American folks. They were all attentive, responsive, and patient with me, my questions, and my concerns. How lucky I am to have them all in my life journey.
Lastly, as a mother of two naughty sons and wife of an always-supportive husband, I would not be I if not having their love, respect, and the listening ability for my non-stop talks. I am thankful to my positive parent, empowering siblings, and joyful Azerbaijani friends for their energy, approval, and value. All these made me a happy international student.
Yes, I have graduated; however, it is not a farewell letter to my friends from A. Margaret Boyd Overseas Fellowship. It is just a favor to account me among robust, philanthropist, and kind-hearted women who could assist so many students’ education and make vital positive changes for the World’s Future. It is my honor to be A. Margaret Boyd Overseas Fellowship Recipient for two years, have this name in my life and heart. Thank you for all the joy, love, and attention you gave me. Your compassion and grace will have a massive effect on my region through my education, skills, and voice. Please, know that you have a friend in Azerbaijan who will always carry love and respect for you all.
Thank you.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES COMMITTEE PROJECT UPDATE
|
I am proud and excited to show you the interactive sound wall that your organization helped so generously fund for Crestview Elementary School. The students love to "play" with their sounds. The wall is separated by Vowel Valley and Consonant Corner. The buttons are located above or below the sound card. The students can push the button to hear the correct sounds the letter (according to Orton Gillingham) makes while looking at the mouth placement, the letter and a keyword. It is an excellent way for the students to quickly hear and identify the differences in the sounds through a multisensory approach to instruction that meets the needs of most students. It has proved to increase their test scores as the graphs indicate. This interactive sound wall will continue to help future students for years to come. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for this generous gift. Have a great healthy and safe summer!!!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lisa Campbell, Title 1, Reading Intervention Specialist
