VOLUNTEERS DRESS CHURCH FOR HOLIDAY
I would sincerely like to thank all the member’s joining with the Altar Guild in decorating the church. Marion, as always, did a wonderful job in organizing us but without: Paul, Zookie, Dottie, Rita, Carol, Julie, Gary and Kathy, Sweet Ling and Helen - she and I could not hope to have Piedmont Church looking so Christmasy. Thanks to Don and Jay as well. - Paul Schroeder

We will be working with our mission partner, CityTeam, to adopt 27 families this Christmas season. The Board of Deacons will provide a list of families with names, needs and sizes if appropriate for buying gifts. Participants can adopt a family or share the adoption of larger families with another church family. The need is great with poverty and homelessness facing many of these families.
We will have lists of families to adopt, plus instruction sheets for what is needed, available after worship beginning this Sunday. All gifts must be purchased, wrapped, labeled and brought to the church by December 16. Contact Sue Coffin at [email protected]

CAROLING, CAROLING
After a 3-year hiatus, we will once again gather in Guild Hall for caroling and refreshments immediately following the Piedmont City Christmas Tree lighting, set for 7pm Wednesday, December 7.

ADVENT GATHERINGS
The season before Christmas is one of waiting and expectation. We call it “Advent,” which means “coming.”
We’re waiting for the coming of the one his parents named “Jesus.” But the prophets, the shepherds, the wise men and the angels addressed him by other names; “Lord,” “Messiah,” “Savior,” “Emmanuel,” “Light of the World,” and “Word Made Flesh.” This Advent, you are invited to learn more about who Jesus was in a 3-week series of discussions, to be held in the Chapel from 7 - 8:30pm on December 1, 8 and 15. Refreshments will be served.
Discussions are based on the short book, Incarnation: Rediscovering the Significance of Christmas, by best-selling author Adam Hamilton. Along with the book, we’ll be using a video produced by the author, to help us examine the names of Christ and the historical and personal significance of his birth.
Please read the Introduction and Chapter 1 prior to the first session.
