New York, NY - On Thursday January 12th, 6:30pm, Tenants at 3852 and 3856 10th Avenue will rally alongside elected officials and advocates against their landlord, Julian Rodriguez and the dangerous conditions that left 17 hospitalized from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning.

Residents at 3852 and 3856 10th Avenue experienced a frightening shock Saturday evening January 7th, 2017 when 17 residents had to be hospitalized after their boiler released dangerous carbon monoxide emissions. Following this incident, the boiler had to be shut off for nearly 24 hours while tenants suffered in below freezing temperatures without heat or hot water.

Problems with heat and hot water as well as other poor conditions have plagued the building for much longer than this weekend. There are over 300 Housing Code Violations on the two buildings, which total 62 apartments, including several violations in the last month for missing carbon monoxide detectors that might have prevented residents from getting sick. The tenants at 3852-3856 10th Avenue, joined by Legal Service providers and advocates, will rally against their landlord Julian Rodriguez, the associated LLC Confe Realty, and the property manager Kitty Huang to demand justice and expeditious quality repairs. Tenants are fed up and no longer want to suffer from the poor conditions of the building that have led families to live in dangerous situations due to the long term neglect and patchwork repair done by management. The tenants and their allies are calling on the property manager, Kitty Huang, to make true sustainable repairs, and to begin doing the work of building a better relationship with the tenants who reside at these buildings. With the perpetual freezing temperatures, tenants demand that heat and hot water remain a priority for management, with no future lapses, before neglect impairs the health of even more families.
