COUNCIL MEMBER YDANIS RODRIGUEZ TO CLOSE OUT VOTE WEEK FOR PARTICIPATORY BUDGETING UPTOWN
CM Rodriguez will Host Pop-Up Vote Site at Dyckman and Broadway on the Last Day of Voting for Uptown Projects
New York, NY - On Sunday, April 2nd at 12:00 pm, noon at the corner of Dyckman and Broadway, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez will close out the week of voting for community-driven projects eligible to receive up to $1 million dollars in funding this year. This is the third year of Participatory Budgeting in Washington Heights, Inwood and Marble Hill, which has already seen excellent projects receive funding, including new green gyms in parks and technology upgrades in school classrooms.
Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez will join volunteers who have taken part throughout this process with one last vote site to wrap up the week before votes are tabulated and a winner is announced in the coming weeks.
Participatory Budgeting empowers communities to choose for themselves where to spend their hard-earned tax dollars. Using $1 million dollars from Council Member Rodriguez's annual discretionary capital budget, uptown residents curate the ballot and give their neighbors a range of options to choose from. This initiative, developed by the NYC Council, has put millions of dollars into communities at their own discretion, enhancing our city's democracy.
