Call to be Issued at High School Robotics Presentation Featuring Recently Immigrated and 2nd Generation Latino Students in Washington Heights
With Just 2.2% of Latinos and 2.7% of African Americans Earning Degrees in the STEM Fields & Women Earning Just 20% of Degrees in Computer Science and Engineering, Vast Improvements Must be Made
New York, NY-- On Monday, April 11th at 12:00 noon, at Gregorio Luperon High School, Council Member Rodriguez will call on the major Presidential Candidates to release their plans for improving education for black, Latino and female students, who face major disparities in the fields with the largest growth rates nationwide.
The press conference will take place directly outside of Gregorio Luperon High School, where students, largely first or second generation Latino, will be holding a robotics exposition, highlighting strides that some schools are taking in addressing these gaps.
