COUNCIL TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE TO JOIN CONSUMER AFFAIRS COMMITTEE IN HEARING ON SIGHTSEEING BUS REGULATIONS & BILLS
(New York NY) - Today, September 26th, 2016, Council Transportation Chair Ydanis Rodriguez and Consumer Affiars Chair Richard Espinal will hold a hearing examining regulation over the sightseeing bus industry, including three bills aimed at improving regulations for New Yorkers.
There have long been concerns over the proliferation of the sightseeing bus industry, given its impact on street safety, traffic congestion and pollution. The joint hearing between the Council Transportation Committee and Council Consumer Affairs Committee will seek to address improving regulations, in addition to hearing three bills:
Intro 529: in relation to strengthening the licensing requirements in the sight-seeing bus industry.
Intro 713: in relation to requiring sight-seeing bus operators to submit operating plans to the department of consumer affairs
Intro 950: in relation to limiting the number of sightseeing bus licenses.
