OFFICE OF COUNICL MEMBER YDANIS RODRIGUEZ TO CELEBRATE STREET CO-NAMING OF 'TED CORBITT WAY' WITH MARBLE HILL COMMUNITY


 

World Famous Olympian Distance Runner to be Honored with Street Co-Naming in his Home Community of Marble Hill on Broadway Between 225th-228th Streets


 

New York, NY-In honor of one of the most legendary runners in world history, Council Member Rodriguez's office will host a ceremony to co-name Broadway between 225th and 228th Streets in Marble Hill after Ted Corbitt. Mr. Corbitt, known by many as the 'Father of Long Distance Running,' was a former resident of the Marble Hill Houses located along this stretch of Broadway.


 

The celebration will be joined by elected officials, community members and the organization Mr. Corbitt helped to establish, the New York Road Runners Club, of which he was the founding president in 1958. The speaking program will include Gary Corbitt, son of Ted Corbitt, as well as elected officials and others.


 

The co-naming event will coincide with the annual Marble Hill Houses Family Day where children, families and other residents of the Marble Hill Houses get together to enjoy the summer.
