Washington Heights and Inwood Community Celebrates Co-Naming of Nagle Ave. and Ellwood St. as Sidney Offerman Way

Offerman Family Will Join Ceremonies in Remembrance of Sidney Offerman, a Cornerstone Member of the YM&YWHA of Washington Heights and Inwood

With support from Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, the corner of Ellwood Street and Nagle Avenue will be co-named Sidney Offerman Way in honor of Sidney Offerman, a former Y President and Board Member for thirty years. He helped secure the Y's current location at 54 Nagle in 1956. Through offering quality services to people of diverse ethnicities and ages, with the mission of improving the quality of their lives, Mr. Offerman and the Y have made a lasting contribution to Northern Manhattan. The Y celebrates its centennial anniversary in 2017 so the naming ceremony will serve as the first of the Y's many centennial anniversary celebrations.
