NYC Council Transportation Chair Ydanis Rodriguez to Key Note Event, Addressing Ambitious Vision for Improving Active & Mass Transportation

New York, NY -- On the morning of Wednesday, April 12th, 2017, at NYIT, the University Transportation Research Center, Region 2, will host a symposium on "Steps Toward a Sustainable Transportation Future in NYC," featuring academics in the transportation field as well as transportation professionals in NYC.

The event, part of the Car Free NYC initiative, will address how New York City can plan for a future that is less reliant on personal vehicles and instead encourages active and mass transportation.

Council Transportation Chair Ydanis Rodriguez will keynote the event, speaking on systematic improvements to ease congestion, including through truck delivery scheduling; improvements to MTA station maintenance, through public-private-partnerships to ease cost burdens; improvements to bus service to create true BRT; among a range of other improvements.

The event will feature a presentation from Cubic Transportation Systems, who compiled and analyzed data from Car Free Day 2016, showing an uptick in transit ridership and massive Citi Bike ridership increases.
