COUNCIL TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE TO EXAMINE HOW PUBLIC TRANSIT CAN BETTER SERVE THE NEEDS OF NEW YORKERS
New York, NY -- On Monday, February 12th, the NYC Council Committee on Transportation, Chaired by Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, will hold an oversight hearing on Public Transit in NYC and how public transportation can better serve the needs of New Yorkers.
The committee will look into numerous efforts to improve New York City's public transit systems for New Yorkers, including the Fair Fares initiative, the Freedom Ticket for commuter travel within NYC, DOT's Citywide Transit Study, improved bus service, Citywide Ferry Service, expanded Citi Bike service and more. All of which aim to make public transit a more attractive option for travel.
Expected to testify are Public Advocate Letitia James, David Jones, Executive Director of Community Service Society, Labor Representatives, Faith Leaders, lower income riders, transit advocates and more.
