NYC COUNCIL TO VOTE ON THREE BILLS TO SUPPORT PEDESTRIANS, COMMERCIAL CYCLISTS

New York, NY -- On Tuesday, May 9th, the New York City Council Transportation Committee will vote on three bills pertaining to improved conditions for pedestrians at crowded and dangerous intersections and corridors; as well as an extension of commercial cyclist safety regulations to include independent contractors in laws already passed covering employees.

The bills set to be voted on include: 
  • Proposed Int. No. 1117-A - (Van Bramer & Rodriguez) A Local Law to amend the administrative code of the city of New York, in relation to businesses using a bicycle for commercial purposes
  • Proposed Int. No. 1177-A - (Rosenthal & Rodriguez) A Local Law in relation to requiring a report regarding the feasibility of implementing Barnes dance pedestrian interval crossing systems at high-crash intersections
  • Proposed Int. No. 1285-A - (Rodriguez) A Local Law in relation to requiring a study on locations with significant pedestrian traffic
