UPTOWN FASHION WEEK RETURNS WITH FALL/WINTER 2016 LINEUP, PRESS CONFERENCE, HIGHLIGHTING GENDER EQUALITY
Designers from across the world will be on hand to discuss their latest designs. New partnership with U.N. Women to bring focus to gender equality in fashion world and beyond
New York, NY -- The widely popular Uptown Fashion Week will return this week, starting with the kick off press conference tomorrow, Thursday, February 18th, 7:00 PM at the Malcolm X & Betty Shabazz Memorial Center on 165th Street and Broadway.
Uptown Fashion Week has grown in popularity over the past 4 years to become one of the must-attend events in Northern Manhattan, drawing fashionistas from the downtown runways to experience some uptown flavor. The show offers a multitude of diverse designers from Latin America, Africa and the United States a premier venue to show off their cutting edge designs in the fashion capitol of America.
Each season, the show takes on a social theme, with this year's event taking full advantage of a new partnership with the United Nations to bring in the Deputy Executive Director for U.N. Women, Ravi Karkara, to address issues of gender inequality across the world. The kick off will also feature a live art show by painter Oscar Abreu, using his talents to address these issues through his work.
