AERO CHARTER, the charter, FBO and aircraft support company based at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport, Chesterfield, Mo., hired pilot RYAN SANDERS, who joins the company as a captain in the Baron and as a first officer in the Citation CJ2, Sabreliner and Excel airplanes.
  
COLUMBIA AVIONICS & AIRCRAFT SERVICES INC. received FAA STC certification of the Garmin GTN 750 & GTN 650 Series nav/comm/GPS systems in the Cessna 650 aircraft.
 
EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY and ITT Exelis have entered into a licensing agreement for Exelis to provide its real-time integrated next generation flight-tracking data for ERAU's academic research and analysis.
 
HEADS UP TECHNOLOGIES INC., a supplier of electronic solutions for general aviation and commercial aircraft, announced the hiring of MARCO LAOS as its quality assurance manager.
 
WEST STAR AVIATION accomplished the "big three" on a Falcon 2000 by completing the first 3C inspection, installing API blended winglets and previously accomplishing a wing tank dry bay modification on the aircraft.

General Aviation: A State-by-State Economic Impact Survey

 

The Alliance for Aviation Across America launched a wide-scale economic impact survey to outline the benefit of general aviation on businesses, local economies and communities around the nation. AEA Wired will highlight a different state each issue:

 

Massachusetts

 

Airports: 39

Pilots: 8,399

Aircraft: 4,300

Jobs: 28,000

Econ. Impact: $3.8 billion

 

Note: According to Dow Jones, general aviation is the single most important factor for business to locate in Massachusetts.

General Aviation Caucuses were formed in the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate in 2009, to inform members and staff about the importance of GA to the nation's economy and transportation system. To date, 169 members of the U.S. Congress have signed on to the General Aviation Caucus. Click below to see if your elected representative is a member. AEA Mourns Death of Edward J. King Jr.Ed King2 
Edward J. King Jr., the founder of King Radio Corp., passed away June 3 at the age of 90.

"Ed King is an avionics icon, and the AEA is saddened by his recent death," said Paula Derks, AEA president. "His entrepreneurial leadership in founding King Radio led the way for many others and helped facilitate the growth and development of the avionics industry. Our association expresses its deepest sympathies to his wife of 32 years, Carolyn, and his children and grandchildren."

AEA Members-Only Forum
The Aircraft Electronics Association launched an exclusive online forum for its members. The forum is a new, members-only benefit created by the AEA Programs and Member Services Committee.

"With the speed of change in the avionics industry, having access to the latest information can give you the edge in the marketplace, and the AEA is excited to offer yet another free resource for its members to help gain that edge," said Mike Adamson, AEA vice president of member programs and education. "In the new AEA Forum, members can ask technical questions, share industry best practices and ultimately build a knowledge database that will enhance every user's expertise."

RVSM Maintenance & Advanced Transponder Training Class

Attendees will be introduced to the regulations, documentation, test equipment and maintenance practices associated with performing RVSM maintenance and will follow with an in depth look at Mode S transponders. This course assumes the attendee has good operating knowledge of FAR 91.411 and 91.413.
