As Garmin's new flagship portable aviation product, the aera 796 incorporates the popular features of the GPSMAP 696, while also adding new capabilities such as a touchscreen user interface, pilot-selectable screen orientation and 3-D vision.


The Cairns-based facilities of HAWKER PACIFIC became the first in Australia to be granted an approval under new air safety regulations.
Hawker Pacific Airline Support Services now has approval to operate under the new CASA maintenance regulations introduced in June 2011.

House Approves FAA Funding Through Jan. 31; Senate Vote Looms


After the Federal Aviation Administration was partially shut down for two weeks earlier this summer, Congressional leaders appear ready to pass the 22nd continuing resolution to fund the agency through Jan. 31, 2012. The agency's current spending authority expires Friday, Sept. 16. The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill on Tuesday, Sept. 13, and it now moves to the Senate. More...

U.S. and Australia Agree to Cooperate To Develop Alternative Aviation Fuels 

The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration and Australia's Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism have reached a Memorandum of Understanding to continue research and development of clean, sustainable alternative aviation fuels. U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood and Australian Ambassador to the U.S. Kim Beazley signed the agreement Tuesday, Sept. 13. More...

AEA Offers Certified Repair Stations a Lesson in Regulations, Auditing and Manual Development

This week, Ric Peri, AEA's vice president of government and industry affairs, is at AEA headquarters in Lee's Summit, Mo., hosting the first ever week-long training seminar for Part 145 repair stations. Comprised of three separate courses: U.S. Regulations, Auditing a Certified Repair Station and Certified Repair Station Manuals - each FAA accepted for IA refresher training - the seminar puts FAA regulations in plain language for the start-up and established repair station operations.


The next certified repair station training course will be in March 2012. For more information contact Mike Adamson, AEA vice president of member programs and education, at mikea@aea.net.
