We Tried! Onto Plan B

In the last newsletter, we announced we'd be moving to a bi-weekly schedule for the remainder of the year. This last week we've received many updates from carriers and the industry we feel are important to share with our agents. Since we don't want to clutter your inbox with individual blasts of non-urgent information, we will continue publishing our MCC Newsletter weekly at this time.

Agent Reminders
DSNP SEP Reminder

We've seen a few agents using the DSNP SEP since October 1st. There is no DSNP special enrollment in Q4, UNLESS there is a change in their DSNP status. All other dual eligible beneficiaries must use the same AEP enrollment period as regular beneficiaries, meaning they can enroll into a new plan from October 15th through December 7th for a January 1st effective date.
Follow-Up is Key

Last App Wins - A Medicare beneficiary can complete multiple applications for a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan in AEP. However, the last application turned in by December 7th will be the plan that goes into effect on January 1st. Make sure you are following up with your clients to ensure you retain their business and loyalty.

CMS adds 11 new covered services to the Medicare telehealth services list, bringing the total number to 144 covered services

"The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) expanded the list of telehealth services that Medicare Fee-For-Service will pay for during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) Public Health Emergency (PHE). CMS is adding 11 new services to the Medicare telehealth services list since May 1, 2020. This update to the Medicare telehealth services list builds on the efforts CMS has already taken to increase Medicare beneficiaries’ access to telehealth services during the COVID-19 PHE.

Since the beginning of the PHE, CMS has added over 135 services to the Medicare telehealth services list – such as emergency department visits, initial inpatient and nursing facility visits, and discharge day management services. With today’s action, Medicare will pay for 144 services performed via telehealth. Between mid-March and mid-August 2020, over 12.1 million Medicare beneficiaries – over 36 percent – of people with Medicare Fee-For-Service have received a telemedicine service."**
