News from the AEU

As we say goodbye to 2022, we can't help but be excited for how great 2023 can be for us. We have made great strides this year and look forward to building on that momentum so we can do our part in creating a world that lives up to our Ethical Culture ideals. AEU Board Member and longtime member of the Ethical Society of St. Louis, Anya Overmann, expresses her excitement for what comes next and shows how you can do your part in making this a great year for the AEU in the letter found below.

Event Name: Speaker Victor Poleschuck, Clinical Professor Emeritus, Univ. of Rochester

Host: Ethical Humanist Society of Rochester

Date: Wednesday, January 4th

Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM ET

Joining the Ethical Humanist Society of Rochester for their January meeting is special guest and Clinical Professor Emeritus at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Victor Poleshuck. Speaking on the topic of medical ethics, Victor will start his presentation by defining and explaining some of the generally accepted principles of medical ethics and finish with a Q&A where we will discuss real life examples of ethical dilemmas that occur in the medical field. Event Name: Mindfulness at Midday: Meditation, Movement, and Discussion Group

Host: Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County

Date: Friday, January 6th

Time: 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM ET

Start the New Year on a relaxing note with our friends at the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County. Hosted by Dwight Panozzo, we will go over the plan for the session as well as what you're looking to achieve from it. Participants will then take part in a guided meditation followed by some light yoga. Event Name: All-Societies Platform The Future is Now: Our Children Putting Ethics into Action

We are thrilled to announce that our next All-Societies Platform is taking place on January 29th! Brought to you by our amazing team of Ethical Education Directors, we will hear from the directors themselves about their program as well as from the parents on what goes into raising our ethical leaders of tomorrow. The parents will also tell us about why it's important that they teach their kids about the the value of Ethical Action and service. For the stars of the show, the kids will share performances with us as well as give their thoughts on what they need from the adults that they embark on their own ethical journeys. In Case You Missed it

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights Video Project

In honor of Human Rights Day on December 10th, we put together a video of folks across the Ethical Culture Movement reading the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on the 74th anniversary of its publication. Those who participated in this video read the UDHR in their primary language or in a language that they are fluent in. Ultimately, our goal is to showcase the diversity of the Ethical Culture movement; that individuals of all ages, races, genders, and more are welcome to be a part of our community.
